Our Change.org petition is the first line of action. We’re aiming for 10,000 signatures to help Dumfries and Galloway Council realise the extent of their action.
We’re keeping our message as simple as possible:
Dumfries and Galloway Council: Reverse the decision to increase composite class sizes from 19 to 25 pupils for single teacher schools.
The Council have made it clear that this is going to be a long fight, but it’s one that we can win. Consider:
- This decision flies directly against the Scottish Government’s agenda for rural communities, for closing the poverty gap and raising pupil attainment.
- Dumfries and Galloway Council are the only region in Scotland to make this change to their schools
- Impact assessments carried out by the council suggest that no negative impacts would be caused by this decision – we need to make them realise how this will affect schools around the region.
